Instead of a shaft passing through a mechanical seal, the agitator uses a magnetic coupling, an outer magnet, driven by the motor, transmits torque across a sealed containment barrier to an inner magnet connected to the mixing shaft, with no dynamic seal in contact with the process fluid.
